CHANGES TO THE APPOINTMENT SYSTEM

The Gables Surgery is continually looking at ways to improve the appointment system.

From 1st May 2009

Telephone the surgery from 10.00 am   to book an appointment.

Same day appointments will be for Urgent  requests only and will be triaged by the nurse.

We will have more appointments available to book in advance.

You can book an appointment up to 7 days in advance (subject to availability).

If you encounter any problems booking an appointment please pass your concerns/comments to Miss Joanne Robinson, Practice Manager

Think First

Think First

  1. Please try and avoid telephoning the surgery between 8am-9:30am especially on Mondays as this is our busiest time
  2. Please wait a few days before coming to see the doctor for minor ailments. Most coughs, colds, sore throats, aches & pains will get better themselves after a few days
  3. Please do not use the telephone to re-order prescriptions. Telephoning can cause dangerous mistakes and blocks the lines preventing patients from getting through in an emergency
  4. Please do not telephone on behalf of any patient who is over 16 years old (unless you feel it is urgent). The doctors and staff will not discuss any patient or give out results for any patient. This breeches patient confidentiality
  5. Non-NHS Services – certain services provided by the doctor are not covered by the NHS eg insurance medicals. A fee recommended by the BMA may be payable for these services. For details of fees please ask the receptionist
  6. You do not need a sick note from a doctor for your first week absence from work. You can use a self certifying note which can be obtained from your employer or the DSS
  7. Parking – there are limited parking spaces. Please leave access for emergency vehicles and doctors spaces
  8. Please make a note of your appointment time to avoid unnecessary phone calls
  9. Please try to avoid telephoning to see if a prescription is ready. This blocks the phone lines
